Raipur is situated on the lands of Chhattisgarh region.This district is surrounded by Bilaspur in the north,Orissa in the south and Durg in west.It has a overall population of about 30 lakhs.It is one of the most popular district of Chattisgarh.It is divided into 13 tehsils and 15 revenue blocks.It is the capital of Chandigarh.It has a large number of tourist attraction from all over the world.


ECONOMY:
The economy of Raipur has increased a lot over the past few years.It is the the home to one of the biggest steel markets in India.A large share of its economy is based on agricultural processing,steel alloy,cement and rice.It is considered as one of the regional hub for trade and commerce.It is absolutely rich in mineral resources.It has over 800 rice milling plants.According to the information received from Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation, capital investment in these industries in year 2003 was Rs 6 thousand 359 crores, which has grown to Rs 2 lakh 52 thousand 593 crore at present. It is noteworthy that in year 2003, number of micro and small industries in Chhattisgarh was six thousand 488, which has nearly doubled over the time to 13 thousand 284 at present. These industries were deploying nearly 16 thousand people but at present this number has reached around one lakh 6 thousand.
Apart from this it also has a large production of aluminum,power and charcoal industries.Due to the surplus power about 90% of its villages are electrified.It also has a large chemical plant which produces and supplies formalin all through the country.It is also well connected to the important cities like Mumbai,Delhi,Kolkata,which has contributed much in the economic growth.
TRANSPORTATION SERVICES:
BY MEANS OF AIR:Swami Vivekananda Airport or Mana Airport is primary airport serving the state of Chhattisgarh.The airport is located, 15 km (9.3 mi) south of Raipur near Naya Raipur. After recent modernisation, is one of its kind in central India and presently connects Raipur to most of the major Metro city of India.
A new integrated terminal designed to handle 700 passengers (including 200 international flyers at a time) and covering an area of 18,500 m2 (4.6 acres) was inaugurated on 7 November 2012 by President of India Pranab Mukherjee. The new terminal will be used for domestic flights, while the proposed international terminal is being renovated to handle international operations.

BY MEANS OF ROAD:
It is surrounded by many highways like NH 6,NH 43,NH 200 etc.The asian highway number 46-AH46 passes through Raipur.

Raipur Junction railway station is situated on the Howrah-Nagpur-Mumbai line of the Indian Railways (via Bhusawal, Nagpur, Gondia, Bilaspur, Rourkela, Kharagpur) and is connected with some major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Sambalpur, Saugor, Katni, Itarsi, Gondia, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kota, Ahmedabad, Jaipur Visakhapatnam, etc.
