Ranchi,capital of Jharkhand is also called as city of waterfalls and lakes.This state was earlier called as Lohardaga.It is loacted at 23.35°N latitude and 85.33°E longitude.The total area is 177.19 sq.km.It is 2140 feet above the sea level.Its name is derived form an old village .It has a total population of 1,120,374 thus becoming the 46th largest urban city in India.It has an literacy rate of 87.68%.



ECONOMY:

BY MEANS OF ROAD: 
Ranchi city is connected through a large network of roads to other parts of Jharkhand state.There are all around 33 National Highwaysand 23 Pass through Ranchi.Bus services has also been developed by the Jharkhand State Road Transport Corporation.The JDTC is also contributing in managing the bus service over here.Autorickshaws and cycle rickshaws are also easily available and form a major part of public transport system.
