MUMBAI is the India's largest country. It is the capital of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India and the ninth most populous agglomeration in the world.Mumbai lies on the west coast of India and has a deep natural harbour. An estimated population of 18.4 million stays here.It also has the highest number of billionaires amongst all cities in India.Mumbai is undoubtedly the commercial capital of India and is one of the predominant port cities in the country. Its nature as the most cosmopolitan Indian city is symbolized in the presence of Bollywood within the city, the centre of the globally-influential Hindi film and TV industries. At the same time it is also the home to India's largest slum population.

ECONOMY:

In the recent years Mumbai is experiencing rapid growth.By 2020-21fiscal,Mumbai's GDP per capita at PPP is expected to reach US$23,000,making it South Asia's richest country. It has traditionally owed its prosperity largely to its textile mills and seaports. These are now being replaced by employment, industries, healthcare and information technology.
Like many metropolitan cities Mumbai too has a large influx of people from rural areas looking for employment.
The port and the shipping industry in Mumbai has been rated among the top 10 centers for commerce and is known as the commercial ping industries that had influenced many minds towards employment directly or indirectly.
There is also a large number of people earning their ways as hawkers, cooks, taxi drivers, bus drivers etc.Mumbai is also a financial center for India as the National Stock Exchange, commercial banks headquarters are situated here.

TRANSPORT SERVICES:
Transport is an important part of India's economy but it is poor in comparison with international standards. Since the economic liberalisation of the 1990s, infrastructure development has progressed rapidly; today there is a variety of modes of transport by land, water and air. However, India's relatively low GDP per capita has meant that access to transport has not been uniform.A lot of money is spent on the Indian transport system.
Also railways provide an extremely important way of getting around in India, transporting about 23 million citizens every 24-hour experience in a day.
Public transport remains the primary mode of transport  in India, and India's public transport systems are among the most heavily used in the world.
Public transport in Mumbai involves many of its citizens travelling by train, cab, bus etc.Its public transport consists primarily of rapid transit on exclusive suburban railway lines augmented by commuter rail. The new means of transport of metro and monorail has recently been inaugurated. Also a commercial seaplane service has been introduced.About 85% of Mumbai's population makes use of transport system.Water transport includes ferries, hovercraft and catamarans etc.
These services are provided by both Indian government as well as private sector.
Despite ongoing improvements in the sector, several aspects of transportation are still facing many problems.

BUS:
About 90% of the population makes use of bus transport system. It serves as a cheap and convenient means of transportation for all the commuters. The major problem faced here is the availability of bus on time specially in heavy traffic days. These services are mostly owned by state government.Mumbai has also introduced new AC buses in past few years.

 TAXI:
Most of the taxis are Hindustan Ambassador cars.According to the government of India, all the taxis are expected to have fare-meters installed.

TRAIN:
The railways runs a number of special types of services which are given higher priority.the Indian railways also operates a number of luxury trains which cater to various tourist circuits.
The rail network traverses through all the length and breadth covering all stations.Various proposed plans have been initiated towards the more advanced developments of the railways in order to provide more connectivity.Rail links between India and neighbouring countries are not well developed.Plans are still being implemented on them.

AUTO-RICKSHAW
Auto-rickshaw are three wheeler vehicles used for travelling. They have metered fares. While in some places ransom money is taken since the meter system is not yet started there. They are usually used to travel for short distances.
