Himachal Pradesh is a state in northern India.Its capital is shimla.It ranks fifth in terms of highest capita per income.It has Jammu kashmir on one side,Punjab and Chandigarh to its west and Haryana to its south.It is very popular for its sceneric beauty,natural weather etc.It has a number of full-fledged governments which have led the state towards economic self-reliance.It has been emerged as the 18th state of Union Territory.

Himachal's gross development product was 14.4 billion in the year 2014-15.
It ranks 4th in terms of capita per income.The main reason of economic growth is agriculture.It contributes about 45% to the domestic product.It is main reason of employment and income of many people.Mainly cereals like wheat,maize are grown here on a large scale.Apple is the major cash crop grown here.Fruit growing in this state is earning over Rs 3 billion annually.Hydroelectric potential also has become a major income generating source.Tourism also contributes a lot in this growth.The mountain views with its breathtaking landscapes attracts a lot of tourist from all over the country.It has many hill stations like shimla,dalhousie etc.This state is facing a lot of difficulties in the advancement of industries.Bilaspur,SansarPur Tera are some industrial regions. As the dust free climate of Himachal is extremely suitable for setting up of electronic industries.The textile industry is mainly focused on spinning,with companies such as Vardhaman engaged in weaving and dyeing.An efficient irrigation system,availability of cheap credit and organised marketing facilities are very important for the development of its economy.Other  important aspects of economic growth are handicrafts,mining,hydel resources,tourism and animal husbandry.

BY MEANS OF AIR:
Himachal has domestic airports in Kangra, Kullu and Shimla districts.These air routes connect many places like Delhi Chandigarh etc.



BY MEANS OF ROAD:
Roads become the major transport in this type of hilly areas.The state has eight national highways and 19 state highways with total length 1,625 km.


BY MEANS OF RAIL:
This state has narrow gauge railways.One of them is Kalka-Shimla railway and  the other is Pathankot-Jogindernagar railway.The length of these tracks is 259 km.
