Chennai is the capital of Tamilnadu and is located on the Coromandel Coast of West Bengal.the population of of this state is 7,088,000 according to the 2011 census. It is the 4 metropolitan city in India.Over the years Chennai has become a hot-spot of tourism in India. Some of the places include Marina beach,Kapaleshwar Temple etc.This city also has some of the best educational institutions in the country.It is also popularly called as the Gateway to South India and is well-connected internationally and to other parts of india via different modes of transport.it is also formally known as Madras.

It is ranked 4th in hosting the maximum number of Fortune 500 companies of India, next only to Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. The Heavy Vehicles Factory at Avadi produces military vehicles , including India's main battle tank : Arjun MBT . The Integral Coach Factory manufactures railway coaches and other rolling stock for Indian Railways . The Ambattur–Padi industrial zone houses many textile manufacturers , and a special economic zone (SEZ) for apparel and footwear manufacturing has been set up in the southern suburbs of the city . Chennai contributes more than 50 percent of India's leather exports .

Means of air:
There is an International airport in chennai.international flights arrive at Anna Terminal and domestic flights arrive at Kamraj Terminal.Chennai is well connected to many places like Thailand,Srilanka,Muscat,Dubai etc.Prepaid taxis are available from the airport to downtown Chennai city.

As of 2011 , according to the Transport Department , there were 25.8 lakh two–wheelers and 5.6 lakh four–wheelers in the city , and the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus fleet were 3,421, which was 0.1% of the total vehicular population of the city.
